The other exception to BIS’s lack of push email, is an old obsolete RIM program called the Desktop Redirector. And if you have one of the OS10 devices, you have no push email at all, since those devices don’t have the classic private email address for your use.

One thing you must get used to is that BIS does not include push email, except for your private device email address. Sometimes the RIM support people really don’t know what they’re doing.

Then be prepared to have your time wasted as a typically clueless support person talks you through wiping your device and maybe getting it working again (sometimes they can’t, and I’m not kidding). You need to get your carrier to open a support ticket at RIM, since RIM will never speak directly with you for any reason. No one else has an obligation to speak with you. Your carrier is the only party that can help you. We get what we get, since there are no guarantees with Gmail service, and no one to which we can complain if it doesn’t work.ģ. Yes, however there is no push email with BIS service, with two exceptions.Ģ. Is there a blackberry support service that can help to resolve these sort of problems? What do you think I should do? The carrier says they can't help me.Ĥ. Do you have instant email delivery of your Gmail accounts to your blackberry (on your OS6 or OS7 device)?ģ. Isn't this the whole point of having a Blackberry?Ģ. Can you confirm that my expectation to have push email delivered instantly to my Blackberry is correct and acceptable. Still emails are delayed which is annoying.įunny enough delays are long during weekdays but short during weekend, which makes me think it's a problem with network capacity as the delays build up during busy hours and they are reduced at quiet times.ġ. The carrier has reset my blackberry services and everything they can think of. I reconfigured all email accounts, tried a new gmail account and created a BIS email account (xxxx AT kpn.blackberry. I have tried using Wifi, using 2g, using 3g etc. I tried a 9700, 9780, 97 and all devices show the same issue. Outbound emails are sent and delivered instantly, but if I send an email to my gmail account from an external email address, the email arrives immediately in both the gmail browser and IMAP clients such as for example Mozilla Thunderbird (So we can be confident the gmail IMAP push service is working correctly), but the blackberry has to wait 10 - 15 minutes to receive the email. Recently I have taken out a blackberry plan on the KPN network in the Netherlands (through their sister company SIMYO) and email is delivered with a delay, often between 10 and 15 minutes, sometimes even more. Any carrier that I have used in the past with a blackberry data package and BIS offered me instant email delivery (if used with a gmail account or BIS email account). I am in the following situation: I have used an "old school" blackberry with BIS for years in various countries.
